Diocesan Archives

The Anglican Diocese of Auckland Archives is a gateway to some of New Zealand's oldest colonial treasures some of which predate the Treaty of Waitangi.

The Archive/Te Whare Kahurangi is a collaborative venture resulting from a partnership of the Anglican Diocese of Auckland and Te Pihopatanga o te Tai Tokerau.  The Archive preserves and manages Anglican documents, collateral and mulitmedia covering the period 1815 to present day.  A research facility is available by appointment to the general public.

Expect to find archival treasures such as original baptism registers brought to NZ by the first missionaries, a ledger from 1835 penned by Bishop George Augustus Selwyn, marriage/burial registers; bishops and clergy files; even records from early orphanages, schools and institutions such as the Auckland City Mission.
Archives hours:  9am-3.30pm  Monday-Friday

Christmas & New Year’s Closing: closed from Thursday  21/12/2017 reopening Wednesday 3/01/2018
